Update: signups are now closed! Sorry if you wanted to join but didn’t get in. I only had a small number of seats for the beta. I’ll be opening up more seats and the full online course later this year.
Ok! I’ve been hard at work creating the first online course for the SEO MBA. The title is “Executive Presence for SEOs”. I think it’s one of the biggest skill gaps in the industry. As I stated in the first post:
There are plenty of people in the industry who are knowledgeable SEOs, well versed in the technical specifics, data analysis, algorithm updates and ranking signals. While interviewing senior SEOs I spoke to a lot of people who know more than I do about some of the technical aspects of how SEO works.
Unfortunately, technical expertise doesn’t matter if you can’t operate at the executive layer of an organization. Too many SEOs lack the ability to create a compelling vision, tell a persuasive story, gather buy-in across the organization or work with other departments.
This course directly addresses this skills gap for mid and senior level SEO talent. Eventually it’ll be polished and self-paced online. But… I’m not quite ready for that. Instead, this course beta is me workshopping and testing out the material live face to face to get feedback and refine the course content.
WARNING: I’m still actively creating, tweaking and workshopping the course material so please sign up for this beta if you’ve got a high tolerance and you’re willing to provide feedback.
Ok, that said - hopefully this will be fun and useful! It’s going to be a small cohort (~10 people) who meet once a week for 5 weeks. Here’s what we’ll cover:
Week 1 - April 15: How to create a a compelling SEO strategy & vision
Week 2 - April 22: Creating models & forecasts
Week 3 - April 29: Creating effective presentations
Week 4 - May 6: Working cross-functionally to get things done
Week 5 - May 13: Wrapping up, discussion & feedback
Each week we’ll meet for 90 mins at 10am PT / 1pm ET (6pm UK time).
The material should be applicable whether you’re working in-house, at an agency or as a solo consultant. But it’ll be most applicable if you’re working with larger companies where cross-functional issues and executive presence matter most (they matter in SMB and startups too but perhaps less so).
The price for this beta is $200.
Why charge for the beta? It ensures strong commitment from those who sign up. I want people to be engaged, learning and providing feedback. And, when the full course launches later this year you’ll get free access to it (likely priced at more than $200!) as a thank you for investing yourself in the beta and being willing to take a chance on this.
So, final check. Please sign up if you’re free for 90mins at 10am PT / 1pm ET on the following dates (weekly on a Thursday):
I’ll cap the seats somewhere between 10-15.
